Most pricing is based on a rate of $30/hr. Flat prices are provided when we have more details about your task (and usually after we see what you have so far) and estimate the time it will take to complete.
-
You are paying for the time it takes to edit/proofread/format your work as requested. Some tasks can take days or weeks to complete; we will not be doing that work without a guarantee of payment. If anything changes (e.g., added or removed pages, altered deadline), please reach out any time and we can adjust the price and timeline accordingly.
-
Absolutely! No commitment or payment info is needed when you fill out the “request service” form. If you’d just like to see how much your project would be and how quickly we could get it done, go ahead and submit the form. Once we get back to you with price and timeline, if you’re no longer interested or need to think about it, no worries!

This distinction is to give us an idea of how long editing your work will take so we can price it accordingly.
Proofreading would be for a document already in good shape that just needs another set of eyes to catch any errors or awkward word flows. In this case, the edited version would read much the same as your original.
Heavy content editing is needed when most sentences need grammar, structure, and/or word changes. Maybe writing or grammar isn’t your strong suit, or English isn’t your first language, or the whole thing needs a more professional or academic tone shift – this may require heavy content editing where most sentences and paragraphs are changed or rearranged.
-
No. We can heavily edit and expand on your existing writing, but we do not research for you or write from scratch. The gist of your writing will remain the same after our edits.

Having someone write your dissertation for you is unethical, and is not a service we provide. Having your PI or a peer read through your dissertation to provide feedback, proofread, and help with formatting is typically allowed and expected. However, double check your university policies, as certain schools may specifically state that you are not to receive any assistance with your dissertation/thesis.

There is a difference between correcting obvious errors and editing for things like sentence structure, word choice, and tone, which aren’t that black and white. There is still a “je ne sais quoi” that people have over AI, particularly in academic writing. We can just tell if it looks and sounds better! Ask any writer in academia or otherwise – there’s a reason ‘editor’ is still a profession.
Having said that, if you just need a quick grammar check, our services may not be what you’re looking for. And if you’re using ChatGPT to write your thesis… good luck to you.
